UPON the Complaint of the Church Wardens and Overseers of the
Poor of the Parish of Hanwell
in the County of Middlesex unto us whole Names
are hereunto set and Seals affixed, being two of His Majesty's Justices
of the Peace in and for the said County of Middlesex
and one of us of the Quorum, that Mary Jordan< no role > and her five
Children namely, Harriott Jordan< no role > Aged 12 Years and
upwards William Jordan< no role > aged 10 Years Anne Jordan< no role >
Aged 7 Years and upwards Hannah Jordan< no role > Aged 5 Years
and Catherine Jordan< no role > aged three Years
did lately come to inhabit in the said Parish of Hanwell
not having gained a legal Settlement there, nor
produced any Certificate owning them to be settled
elsewhere, and that the said Mary Jordan, Harriett, William,
Anne, Hannah and Catherine Jordan are become
likely to be chargeable to the said
Parish of Hanwell We the said
Justices, upon due Proof made thereof, as well upon the Examination
of [..] John Hawkins< no role > upon Oath
as otherwise, and likewise upon due Consideration had of the Premises,
do adjudge the same to be true; and we do likewise adjudge, that the
lawful Settlement of them the said Mary Jordan
Harriott, William, Anne, Hannah and Catherine
Jordan
is in the said Parish of [..] Pewsey in the said
County of Wilts We do therefore
require you the said Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
said Parish of Hanwell or some of
one of you to convey the said Mary Jordan, Harriott, William,
Anne, Hannah and Catherine Jordan
from and out of you said Parish of Hanwell
to the said Parish of [..] Pewsey and them
to deliver to the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or
to some or one of them, together with this our Order, or a true Copy
thereof: And we do also hereby require you the said Church Wardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of [..] Pewsey
to receive and provide for them as Inhabitants of your
said Parish Given under our Hands and Seals the 14th.
Day of May in the Year of our Lord One thousand
Seven hundred and Ninety three
