Middlesex


At the General Quarter Session of the Peace of our Lord
the King holden in and for the County of Middlesex at the
Session House for the said County on Monday the Sixth day of
July in the Twenty Ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign
Lord George the Third King of Great Britain Etc Before
William Mainwaring< no role > , John Staples< no role > , Thomas Gordon< no role > , John
Spiller
< no role > Esquires and others their Fellows Justices of our said
Lord the King assigned to keep the Peace in the County
aforesaid and also to hear and determine divers Felonies
Trespasses and other Misdemeanors committed in the same
County and from thence continued by several Adjournments and
until this day to wit Thursday the Ninth day of the same
Month of July at the hour of Ten in the forenoon of the
same day and that at the same Session of the Peace being
holden by adjournment aforesaid at the Session House aforesaid
in and for the said County on the said Thursday the Ninth
day of July in the year aforesaid before the said Justices of our
said Lord the king abovenamed and others their Fellows
aforesaid

Whereas the Mayor and Commonalty and Citizens of the
City of London Did at the last General Quarter Session of the
Peace held in and for this County Exhibit their Petition Appeal
setting Forth That by Virtue of a certain Rate or Assessment or Rates
and Assessments made for the Relief of the Poor of the Hamlet of
Hampton Wick in the County of Middlesex from Lady day One thousand
Seven Hundred and Eighty Seven to Lady day One thousand Seven
Hundred and Eighty eight and also a Rate or Assessment or Rates
and Assessments made for the Relief of the Poor of the said Hamlet
from Lady day Oner Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty eight to
Lady day One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Nine a Claim
was made on the Fifth day of June One Thousand Seven Hundred
and Eighty eight on the Petitioners by the Collectors of the Poors
Rate for the said Hamlet of Hampton Wick in the Following Words
The Mayor and Commonalty and Citizens of the City of London stand
assessed to the Poors Rate of the Hamlet of Hampton Wick for the
Barge way and Toll Gate for the two Rates of One Thousand Seven
