He Lord the King}

And William Tomlinson< no role > who is above charged in the said Indictment by the Name of James Thomas< no role > Cometh
here in Court in misproper person and having heard the said Indictment read saith that he is the person
in the said Indictment mentioned and intended by the Name of James Thomas< no role > and the said William
Tomlinson< no role > prays Judgment of the said Indictment because he says that on the day of preferring of the said
Indictment and always from the time of his Baptisms hither to he the said William Tomlinson< no role > was called by
the Name of William Tomlinson< no role > and not by the Name of James Thomas< no role > , and by the the Name of William
Tomlinson< no role > hither to always was and still is called and Known and not by the Names of James
Thomas< no role > as by thesd. Indictment is supposed And this he is ready to verify Wherefore since he the
said William Tomlinson< no role > is named by the name of James Thomas< no role > in the said Indictment he the
said William Tomlinson< no role > prays Judgment of the said Indictment and that he may not be
compelled to answer the same-

William Tomlinson< no role > of Holbom in the Parish of St. Andrew Holborn
in the County of Middlesex Milkman who stands Indicted by the Name of James Thomas< no role > late of
the same parish for the Assault mentioned in the said Indictment Maketh Oath and Saith that he
hath read the above written plea And south tha the substance and matter of fact there in
contained is true

Sworn in Court at the General Quarter Session of the holden for the County
of Middlesex at the Session House for he County of Middlesex (by adjournment) on
Monday the 4th. day of August 1786.}
