At
Mr Leroux stated what had been done at the last Court respecting
the appointment of a select Committee for carrying into Execution
the intended Building of a House of Correction
without Fee or
Reward, and proposed to the Court that he would (if they
thought proper) conduct that Business on the same Terms
It was moved by Mr Montague that the resolution made
in the County day of the last Session appointing a Select
Committee to prepare particulars of the work to be done in and
about the House of Correction
and to advertise for proposals
for carrying the same into Execution & be rescinded, and
upon the question being put, upon the shew of Hands there
appeared for the question 8and 13against it 13 whereupon
it was declared to be carried in the negative
Mr Leroux having signified his readings to join the
select Committee and informed the Court that he was desirous
that the Resolution of Sept Sessions 1784 appointing him
Surveyor of the intended House of Correction may from this
time cease in the same is Ordered accordingly
It was Moved that the Thanks of this Court be
given to Mr Leroux for his Assistance in forming the
plans for the intended House of Correction, and his Great
pains and attention during the whole of the Business
