"AND it is hereby earnestly recommended to the said Justices and Magistrates,
"that they do carefully examine upon oath all Vagrants brought before them
"in order to be passed, and all Constables and other persons bringing such
"Vagrants, that it may be discovered how such Vagrants came into the said
"County of Lancaster , and from what cause they have fallen into a state of
"Vagrancy; and such Justices are desired to state the same, together with
"the place of the last settlement or residence of such Vagrants in their ex-
"amination.

"AND it is also recommended to the said Justices and Magistrates to adhere
"to the form of the Pass described by Sect. VII. of 17 Geo. II. Cap. 5, and
"not to prescribe in the original Pass the mode of conveyance of any Vagrant
"or other person who shall be ordered by them to be conveyed, but to confine
"the same to the Certificate only.

"AND it is further recommended to the said Justices and Magistrates, that
"when any Vagrant is brought before them by a Pass from any other County,
"not to confine themselves to any particular mode of conveyance that may
"happen to be specified or prescribed in the Pass, but to alter or change the
"same as they in their discretion may think proper, as the reasons for ordering
"Vagrants to be conveyed on horseback, or in a cart, from the several Counties
"from whence they were first passed, often cease before, or at the time they
"arrive in the said County or Lancaster.

"AND it is hereby earnestly recommended to his Majesty's Justices of the
"Peace for the said County of Lancaster , that they do carefully examine upon
"oath all Vagrants brought before them in order to be passed, and all Con-
"stables and other persons bringing such Vagrants before any Justice or Justices, that
"it may be discovered how such Vagrants came into the said county of Lancaster ,
"and whether he, she, or they have been conveyed by Pass into it, or to the
"borders of it, and what place they were passed from in the next County, and
"at what place in the said County of Lancaster they were ordered to be deli-
"vered, and whether they have voluntarily escaped from any Constable, or have
"been set at liberty by any Constable, and not delivered to the Constable of the
"Township or place they were directed to be delivered to, or set at liberty in
"order that some Constable or other person of the same County may claim a
"reward for apprehending such Vagrants; or whether such Vagrants not sent
"or delivered by a Pass or Passes to a Constable of the same County, have come
"out of his, her, or their, direct road into any Township of the said County of
"Lancaster: and in case any such Vagrants, or any such Constables or other
"persons shall, upon their, examination taken before any of his said Majesty's
"Justices, appear to have been guilty of any such fraudulent practices, such
"Justice is hereby desired to cause such examination as aforesaid to be filed
"with the Clerk of the Peace for the said County of Lancaster, and to com-
"mit such Vagrant to one of the Houses of Correction for the same County
"until the next general Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held for the said
"County
