caster thereby referred to be printed, and that copies thereof be sent to all the
acting Magistrates for the said County of Lancaster : and that copies thereof
and of this order subjoined thereto shall also be sent to the Clerks of the Peace ,
and Town Clerks, in the several other Counties and inferior Jurisdictions of this
kingdom, from whence Vagrants have been usually passed, to the intent that the
same may be delivered to the Justices of such Counties and inferior Jurisdictions
at their Quarter Sessions; and that letters be written therewith, expressing the
confidence this Court entertains that the facts contained in the said report, and
the recommendation of the Committee of Magistrates making the same, will be
duly attended to by the Justices in such respective Counties and inferior
Jurisdictions.

COPY of an Order at the General Quarter Sessions holden for the
County of Lancaster , in the Month of July 1785, for the better Regulating
the Mode of Maintaining, Conveying and Shipping Vagrants in the said
County of Lancaster , and the Expences attending the same.

"WHEREAS it appears to this Court, from the Report of the Committee
"appointed by the several Courts of Quarter Sessions of the Peace, of the respec-
"tive Counties of Chester and Lancaster, for taking into consideration the
"present mode of apprehending, maintaining, conveying and shipping Vagrants
"in the said Counties, and the expences attending the same; That the charge
"and expence of apprehending, maintaining, conveying and shipping Vagrants
"within the County of Lancaster, has of late years greatly increased, and is
"now become a very heavy burden upon the inhabitants of the same County.
"And whereas no general order has yet been made for regulating and ascer-
"taining the allowance for maintaining, conveying and shipping Vagrants in
"the said County of Lancaster, and such orders of the Court of Quarter Session
"in the said County of Lancaster, which have been made, with an intent to lessen
"the number, and to reduce the expences of conveying Vagrants through the
"same County, have proved ineffectual for that purpose: IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED
"BY THIS COURT, That from and after the first day of September next, all such
"last mentioned orders shall be, and they are accordingly hereby repealed
"and made void; And for reducing the expences occasioned by the appre-
"hending, maintaining, conveying and shipping of Vagrants in the said County
