Middlesex to wit


To the Church Warden and Overseers of the Poor of the
Hamlet of Ratcliffe , in the Parish of St. Dunstan, Stepney ,
in the County of Middlesex , and to the Church Wardens and
Overseers of the poor of the Parish of Saint John
Wapping in the Same County

WHEREAS Complaint hath been made by you the
Church Warden and Overseers of the Poor of the Said
Hamlet of Ratcliffe , unto us, whose Hands and Seals are hereunto
Set, two of his Majesty's justices of the peace acting and for the
Said County of Middlesex , (and one of us of the Quorum), that
John Lacon< no role > with his Wife Elizabeth< no role > and their four Children
Vizt. John< no role > Aged about Six years Daniel< no role > aged about five
Years Catherine< no role > aged about Two years and Elizabeth< no role >
aged about One year have
lately intruded into your Said Hamlet of Ratcliffe , there to inhabit
as parishioner contrary to the Laws relating to the Settlement
of the Poor, and there likely to become Chargeable, if not timely
prevented: And WHEREAS, upon due Examination and Enquiry
made into the premises, as well as upon Oath of the
Said John Lacon< no role >
it appears unto Us, and we accordingly adjudge, that the said
John Lacon< no role > with his Said Wife and their four
Children are
[..] become chargeable unto the said Hamlet of Ratcliffe , and
that the last legal Place of Settlement of the Said
John Lacon< no role > with his Said Wife of their four Children
is in the Said Parish of Saint John Wapping in the
County of Middlesex aforesaid

THESE are therefore in his Majesty's Name, to order and require
you the said Church Warden and Overseers of the Poor of the
Hamlet of Ratcliffe , aforesaid, that you or some of you, doth
forthwith remove and convey the said John Lacon< no role > with his
Said Wife and their four Children
from your said Hamlet of Ratcliffe , to
the said Parish of Saint John Wapping
and them deliver to the Church Warden and
Overseers of the Poor there, or some or one of them, together
with this our Warrant or Order, or a true Copy hereof; whereby
they are likewise required, in his Majesty's Name, and by Virtue
of the Statutes in Such Case made, forthwith to receive the said
John Lacon< no role > with his Said Wife and four Children
into their Said Parish
and provide for them as their own Parishioner
Given under our Hands and Seals the Twenty Sixth Day of
January in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven
Hundred and Eighty four
