heaeof,) who has brought me the Notice herein
inclosed, purporting that he is required by the Sessions, to attend there, on Friday
next the 2d May instant, "To Shew Cause, why he shou'd not take upon him the
Office of High Constable
for the Staines half Hundred of Spelthorne
, in the
County of Middlesex
}Desires I Wou'd give you the trouble of a Line
to assure you, (as he says,)" That it will be impossible for him (at the present;)
to take upon him such Office, without prejudice to his other avocations; on
which Account, He hopes for the indulgence of the Court, To a future Period.
Mr Crew says, He is Already churchwarden of Stanwell
, and that
(what with his said Office, and his own business,) he is very sure he
Cou'd not, at Present, Execute the Office of High Constable
, in the manner
he wou'd wish to do;-I hope that neither the Court, nor yourself, will
look upon this Letter, as Wishing on my Part, to say any thing upon
the subject: More, than merely writing you a Line, at the special
request of the said Mr Crew.who am, with great respect
