Middlesex


The Affidavit of Thomas Hattersley< no role > of the Parish
of Saint Mary White Chapel in the said County of
Middlesex Merchant Thomas Waller< no role > Master of
the good Sloop or Vessel called the Hardwick of the
Burthen of One hundred and thirty Tonsor
thereabouts and Francis Bills< no role > in respect to the
Loss of Salt part of the Burthen of the said Sloop
or Vessel at Sea by Storm.

Thomas Hattersley< no role > of the Parish of St Mary White Chapel in the
said County of Middlesex Merchant Thomas Waller< no role > Master
of the Sloop or Vessel aforesaid and Francis Bill< no role > of Fetter Lane
London Salt Surveyor do severally upon their Oath depose and
swear And first the said Thomas Waller< no role > deposeth and saith
that the said Sloop did on or about the f [..] first day of March last
set sail from Liverpool laden with One hundred and three Tons
of Salter thereabouts bound to London being at that time right
and strong and in every respect well fitted and provided for the
roy age and at about the hour of tenof the 29th.
day of March last he said Sloop or Vessel arrived at Horsley down
in the River of Thames that in the course of the Passage the
said Vessel did encounter a great deal of stormy and tempestuous
Weather in which the said Sloop had strained and laboured
recessively hard and shipped great quantities of Water and split
her For sail that not only the said Sloop but her Cargo had
received considerable damage and that there was in consequence
of the said stormy Weather a Total Loss of One hundred and
Eighty one Bushels of Salt part of the Cargo or Burthen of the
said Sloop or Vessel and that the said Loss was occasioned
altogether by the means of the said stormy and tempestuous
Weather and not by any Leak age of the said sloop or Vessel
or any negligence or default in him the said Deponent or any
of the Mariners to the said vessel belonging. And the said
Thomas Haltersley< no role > for himself saith that the Salt with which
the said Sloop or vessel was laden was shipt and consigned
to him by the firm and description of Stephens & Hattersley
