To the Worshipfull his Majestys Justices of the Peace
in and for the County of Middlesex in their present General Session
of the Peace Assembled

The Humble Petition of the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the
Poor of the Parish of Saint George the
Martyr in the said County.

Sheweth


That Mary Brown< no role > Singlewoman in [..]
Voluntary Examination bearing date the Twenty Fourth
Day of January last taken upon Oath before Joseph Girdler< no role >
Esquire One of his Majestys Justices of the peace for the
said County Did declare that the Child or Children with
which she was then pregnant was or were begotten
on her Body by John Aldridge< no role > Coal heaven then a late
a Lodger at the Vine and Vine Yard Tooley Street in the
Borough of Southwark and by no other person
whatsoever And that the said Child or Children when
born was or ever likely to be Bastard or Bastards
and to become chargeable to the said Parish of Saint
George the Martyr to which she said Mary Brown< no role >
belonged she being in nowise able to provide for the sa [..]

That he said John Aldridge< no role > was by Virtue
of the said Magistrates Warrant on the said Twenty Fourth
Day of January apprehended and not being able to find
Sufficient Sureties to identify the said Parish in the Premises
was Committed to the Custody of the Governor of the House
of Correction at Clerkenwell where he shall remains

Your Petrs. therefore humbly pray that
your worship will be pleased to direct that
the said John Aldridge< no role > be continued in the
Custody of the said Parish as the Lawdirects
