MIDDLESEX


AT the GeneralSession of the Peace
of our Lord the King, holden in and for the County
of Middlesex , at Hicks-Hall , in Saint John-Street ,
(by adjournment) on Thursday the ninth
Day of December in the twentieth Year of the
Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, King
of Great Britain, Etc. Before Sir John Hawkins< no role >
Knight the Reverend Sir George Booth< no role > Baronet
Thomas Brooksbank< no role > William Mainwaring< no role >
Esquires , and others their Fellows, Justices of our said
Lord the King, assigned to keep the Peace in the County
aforesaid; and also to hear and determine divers Felonies,
Trespasses, and other Misdemeanours committed in the
same County

Whereas the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of Saint George
the Martyr Have at this present Session Exhibited their Petition and Appeal setting
forth That by Virtue of an Order or Pass Warrant under the hands and Seals of Sir James
Esdaile
< no role > Knight and Cad: Coker< no role > Esquire two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and
for the County of Middlesex (one whereof being of the Quorum) bearing date the 23d day of
October last Mary Colburn< no role > wife of Benjamin Colburn< no role > (who is gone away and left her
and her Child named William < no role > aged about seven years were removed from the parish of
Saint Luke in the said County of Middlesex to the said parish of Saint George the
Martyr as the place of their last legal settlement Whereby the Petitioners conceived
themselves aggrieved Now upon hearing the said Appeal and what hath been alledged
by the respective churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the said parishes their
Counsel and Witnesses in and concerning the Premises It is ordered that the said
Appeal be and the same is hereby allowed and the said Order or Pass Warant of
the said two Justices is hereby vacated and set aside and It is further ordered that the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of Saint George the Martyr do
forthwith convey and deliver back the said Mary Colburn and her said child (together
with a copy of this order) unto the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of
Saint Luke or to some or one of them who are hereby required to receive and provide
for the said Mary Colburn and her said Child until they can free themselves from
the charge thereof by due course of Law
