At the General Quarter Sessions for the peace
held at Hicks Hall in and for the County of Middlesex
in the eighteenth year of the Reign of King George
the Third.

Thomas Jackson< no role > of Ellesmere in the County of Salop Farmer and John
Bernett
< no role > one of the Churchwardens of the parish of Ellesmere aforesaid Severally
make Part, and say that they these Deponents attended at the last Assizes held at
the Town of Shrewsbury in and for the said County of Salop and did prosecute one
James Davies< no role > for feloniously Stealing out of the parish Church of Ellesmere
aforesaid one Silver Flagon belonging to the said parish before the Honorable Sir
John Skynner< no role > Lord Chief Baron of his Majestys Court of Exchequer of which
Offence the said James Davies< no role > was convicted received Sentence of death And these
Deponents further severally say that upon the Trial of the said James Davies< no role > It
Appealing to the Court that one John Legres of Long Acre in the Liberty of the
City of Westminster in the County of Middlesex maker of French plate was the
receiver of the said Silver Flagon knowing the same to be stolen whereupon The
Lord Chief Baron as these Deponents are informed recommend a prosecution to be
Commenced against the said John Legris And these Deponent thereupon entered
into a Recognizance on the thirteenth day of August last before Thomas Fewnes< no role >
and Charles Bolas< no role > , Esquires two of his Majestys Justices of the peace in and for
the Town Shrewsbury and County aforesaid each of them in the Sum of Forty
pounds Conditioned to be said if these Deponents should personally Appear at the
next Sessions and Goal Delivery for the City and Liberty of Westminster in
the County of Middlesex and then and there prefer a Bill of Indictment against
the said John Legres for receiving the said Silver Flagon knowing the same to be
Stolen and belonging to the said parish of Ellesmere in the said County and then
and there give Evidence concerning the same to the Jurors who should enquire
thereof on the Part of our said Lord the King And in case the same would be found
a true Bill then if these Deponents should personally Appear before the Jurors
who should pass upon the Trial of the said John Legris and give Evidence
upon the said Indictment and not depart without lease of the Court and these
