The humble Petition of Joseph Read< no role >
one of the High Constables
for the Hundred of Gore
in the said County.
Sheweth,
That Your Petitioner was sworn into the
office of High Constable
on or about the tenth day of October
1773 and has duly served the said Office to the best of his
Judgment and ability and is now near sixty four years
of Age being a Farmer
having a large Family, and your
Petitioner has here under nominated four Substantial
Persons to succeed him in the said office, and humbly
prays to be discharged.
