Sir

I am under the disagreeable Necessity of requesting a favour at
your hands which hope your Goodness will not deny, I was last Night arrested
for a Debt of seven pounds eight Shillgs that was contracted when I was in
business which the person (at the time of settling my Affairs) would not
compromise, but has since offered to relinquish it for four Guineas, whick [..]
not been as yet in my power to pay him, he was very rigid with me last night and
insisted upon the whole Money immediately, but when he went away agreed
to give me six Months longer, if I could get a reputable person to Join me
in a Note of Hand, such a person I am afraid I shall find difficult to
meet with as I do not know that I ever had a Friend in my life therefore
I think if I was to offer him four Guineas which he propos'd taking before
this happen'd I shall get quit of the Debt, which if you will be Kind enough
to Supply me with, you may deduct it in what manner you please out of my
Salary every Week, I got a person last Night to pass his Word to the Office for
my appearance this Morning at the Officer's House. at 11o' Clock at which time
I must settle it one way a the other if you will be kind enough to Assistance
you will lay a lasting obligation on.

Your obedient humble Servt.
Harwood
