In the Exchequer

James Waller< no role > of Grays Inn in the County of Middlesex
Esquire maketh Oath and saith that on the seventh Day of September
one Thousand seven hundred and seventy he this Deponent was
by nine of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace of and for the County
of Middlesex arbitrarily and illegally (as this Deponent is
advised and apprehends) discharged from his Office of Clerk of
the Peace of and for the said County of Middlesex in Manner
as in the affidavit of Mr. David Rees< no role > his Deputy in the said
Office sworn on or about the fourteenth Day of June One Thousand
seven hundred and seventy one to which this Deponent refers
is set forth and the Key of the Record Room at Hick's Hall
and most of the Records Books and Papers belonging to the
Sessions were taken from him by or by the Order of the said
Justices or one of them and delivered to Mr. Butler who had been
the same seventh Day of September or on the next Day as this
Deponent believes appointed Clerk of the Peace in the said County
in the Place and Stead of this Deponent, which said Mr. Butler
appointed Mr. James Jefferson< no role > to be his Deputy in the said
Office who as this Deponent believes hath in his Custody or
Power all the Records Books and Papers necessary for
making out and returning an Estreat of all Fines Issues
Amerciaments and Recognizances at any Sessions of the Peace
for the said County between the fourthof September one
thousand seven hundred and sixty nine and the Tenth of
September one thousand seven hundred and seventy And this
Deponent hath not to his Knowledge or Belief any Records
Books or Papers to make out and return such Estreat as
is required by the Order of this Honourable Court made on the
Twenty third Day of Janry last
