Middlesex


At the General Quarter Session of the Peace of our Lord the King holden
for the County of Middlesex at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street in the
said County (by Adjournment) on Thursday the Twenty Third day of
Julyin the Twelfth Year of the Reign of our sovereign Lord
George the Third King of Great Britain Etc Before John Hawkins< no role >
Benjamin Cowley< no role > Herbert Mackworth< no role > John Walford< no role > Esquires and
others their Fellows Justices of our said Lord the King assigned to
keep the Peace of our said Lord the King in the County aforesaid
and absate to hear and determing divers Felonies Trespasses and
other Misdemeanors committed in the same County.

Whereas the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Edgware in the said County of Middlesex Did at the last General Session
of the Peace Exhibit their Petition and Appeal setting forth That by an Order
under the Hands and Seals of Joseph Girdler< no role > and Stephen Clarke< no role > Esquires
two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex aforesaid
(one whereof being of the Quorum) bearing date the Eighth day of May One Thousand
Seven Hundred and Seventy two Mary Hale< no role > widow with her Child Martha< no role >
was removed from the Parish of Saint Mary Islington in the said County of
Middlesex to the said Parish of Edgware as the legal settlement of the said
Mary Hale< no role > and her Child Whereby the Petitioners thought themselves
aggrieved which said Appeal was duly Adjourned unto this day Now upon hearing of the said Appeal and what hath been Alledged
on either side by the respective Churchwardens and Overseers their Council
and Witnesses in and concerning the Premisses It is Ordered that the
said Pass Warrant or Order of the said two Justices be and the same is hereby
Confirmed And it is further Ordered That the Churchwardens and Overeseers
of the Poor of the said Parish of Edgware Do maintain and provide for the
said Mary Hale< no role > and Martha her Child until they can free themselves from
the Charge thereof by one Course of Law
