The Course of the Clerk of the Peaces Office for Middx. has been to delivers
one part of the annual Estreat to the Sheriff. And another part to the Lord
Treasurers RemembrancersOfficein Hicks Term the latter being first
Sworn to before a Barons which Estreats contain the Fines and forfeitures
set and incurred in the October, December, January, February, April,
May, July, and September Sessions, and not respited or Spared by the
Justices upon Application and Cause shown.

These Estreats are Collected and drawn up from the Minute Books Files
of Indictments and Recognizances and papers of the respective Sessions and
is a very laborious business which requires great attention and Circumspection

The Minute Books from whence the Estreats are so Collected and drawn
up contain first an Entry of the days and places of holding the Sessions with the
names of the Justices and Jurors, next of the Suitors bound over at preceding
Sessions to tryTraverseor Answer Indictments at the present Session; then the
Names of the Persons bound over since the last preceding Session; And after
an Entry of Orders made in the present Session, are contained Minutes of the
precedings upon Prisoners, and Persons not bound to that Session; and sunday
other Entries promisenously

The days of holding the Sessions and the Names of the Justices furnish and
the Coption or Title of the Estreats And the Clerk of the Peaces Name is inserted
and the Number of days he attended for the purpose of ascertaining their
Wages.

The Names (only) of the Suitors in the first part of the Book are extracted
from former Sessions Books in which former Books the Names and Additions
of the Sureties (either pledges or Main pernors) are Entered, with the penalties
and Conditions and these bar Names, with Marginal Letters, are directories
or references to the Recognizances enter'd in the former Books

The Next Entry of the Names of the Suitors is Extracted from the Recongin.
