same taken before me this 17th.. day of
August 1767
Who being upon Oath severally say and first said
Thomas Griffiths< no role >
for himself saith that on Thursday last
in the Evening he was Informed by his said Servant that a Man
had been concealed in the Garrott and that he was Just
run out of doors that he met [..] the sd. Man and stopt him
that he said his Name was Michael Haydon< no role >
says that
when he returned home he examined his different Rooms and
found several things collected together vizt in the first floor
a pair of Leather Breeches a Tea Chest and some Glores and
in the room adjoining to that where the Man had been concealed
tied up in a strange Handkerchief now produced a [..] Coat and Waistcoat his
property another Cont and Waistcoat belonging to Samuel Jones< no role >
& a Necklace all which had been collected from different parts of
the hense and as he believes be the said Haydon (but whose
Name he has since found to be Doyle< no role >
) with Intent to Steal
and this Informant Jane Ironmonger< no role >
for herself saith
that on Thursday Evening last being upon the Stairs she heard
some Person going up above her, and finding it not to be
a Girl which She first Thought it was she followed up into
the Garrott where She found the aforesaid Doyle otherwise Haydon
[..] concealed under the Bad whereupon she went down in Order
to get assistance and that said Doyle them ran away but was
apprehended by her Master
