The humble Petition and Appeal of John Marlar< no role >
of Moncken Hadley
in the County of Middlesex
& Esquire
Sheweth
That your petitioner having a house and Field containing
about two Acres and an half of Land in the parish of Moncken
Hadley
in the County of Middlesex
for his own residence He hath
been assessed by a rate or assessment made the Nineteenth day of
July last for relief of the poor of the said parish in the Sums of
Twopounds and ten shillings being after the rate of Two
shillings in the pound for the yearly value of his said House & Land
That your petitioner conceives the said Rate made upon
him to be excessive and unequal For that several House holden
Tenants and Occupiers of houses and Land of a greater yearly
Rentor Value than his said premisses are rated lower in properties
And most if not all the Inhabitants there are greatly under
rated in proportion to the Sum of your petitioner is charged
Your petitioner therefore humbly conceives himself aggrieved
by the above mentioned Rate or Assessment And doth appeal to this
Court against the same and prayeth relief in the premissess Etc
Your petitioner humbly prays your
Worships to Grant him an Order for the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor
of the said parish and all other persons
concerned to attend this Honoble Court on son
day in this present Session to shew Cause why
the said Rate or Assessment should not be set
abide and Quashed and to hear and abide
the Judgment and determination of this
Court touching the premisses
