The King
agst.
Jane Bradley< no role > }
On the prosecution of William MacPherson< no role > for Felony

Ann Allen< no role > wife of Thomas Allen< no role > of Drury Lane in the County of Middlesex Pawnbroker maketh oath that
this Deponent in the month of February last past was bound in a Recognizance before Saunders Welch< no role > Esquire One of
his Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex to appear at Hick's Hall to give Evidence
against Jane Bradley< no role > for Stealing a pair of Stockings And this Deponent further Saith that the
prosecutor William MacPherson preferred a Bill of Indictment against the said Jane Bradley< no role > for Pettit
Larceney at Hick's Hall in the month of February last for the said offence and which as this Deponent had been
informed was to have been Tried at Hick's Hall aforesaid whereon this Deponent attended and gave
Evidence on the said Indictment and the said Indictment being as this Deponent hath heard and beleives
found a true Bill she this Deponent was told by the Deputy Clerk of the peace at Hick's Hall to attend
the Court there the Thursday following to give her Evidence to the Court and Jury at Hick's Hall on the Trial of
the said Indictment or to that effect And this Deponent further Saith that by mistake the said Indictment
for Pettit Larceney was Sent to this Court and that to her great Surprize she was Informed by some of her
Friends that the said Jane Bradley< no role > was tried for some other offence at the old Bailey on the wednesday in
the said month of February the Day before this Deponent was so ordered to attend to give Evidence against the said
Jane Bradley< no role > at Hick's Hall aforesaid and that She the said Jane Bradley< no role > was also tried on the said Indictment in this
Court whereon this Deponent was so bound to give Evidence against her and that She acquitted for want of the
prosecutor this Deponent attending to give Evidence against her and Deponent Saith that the
Indictment whereon this Deponent was bound to give Evidence against the said Jane Bradley< no role > being for Pettit Larceny this Deponent
was told by the said Deputy Clerk of the Peace to attend at Hick's Hall on the Thursdayandon the Trial of the
said Jane Bradley< no role > there which this Deponent Should have done if this Deponent had not been informed to her
great Surprize that the said Indictment was returned to this Court and that the said Jane Bradley< no role > was tried
thereon At the old Bailey against this Deponent knowledge the Day before this Deponent was ordered
to attend the said Trial as aforesaid and this Deponent further Saith that She is wholly unacquainted
both with the prosecutor and the said prisoner and this Deponents non attendance to give Evidence to this
Honourable Court against the said Prisoner at the said Trial was not through any favour affection or
reward or with any intent or inclination to Screen the said Prisoner from Justice on the Contrary this
Deponent would have attended this Honourable Court on the said Trial had She had the least Notion or hint
that the said prisoner would have been Tried before this Honourable Court But that Such non attendance
was intirely owing to the Mistake of expecting that the said prisoner would have been Tried for the said
Pettit Larceney at Hick's Hall pursuant to the Information so given this Deponent by the said Deputy
Clerk of the Peace.

Sworn in Court at Justice Hall in the
Old Baily this 24th. day of October 1761.
