Cordwainer . Thatlaston Sunday the 18 of May last in the
afternoon heard his Lodgers (Women)Say Bassett had Stab'd his
WifesThat they Lodged with him abt. 8 MonthsThat they
Lodged in a little Garrett in his House at 1s. 6d. a Week
That they were quarrlesome & she a drunker Body & he
Believes was the reon why the Husband boat herthe Man
acknowleg'd her to be his WifeThat the Husband was a
Gildes & of a saber disposition but never Eat or drank with either
of themSaw no Quarrel between them. but they would taken
his Goods & pawn them & been obliged to buy Goods twice over
That on 29 May his Wife brought down the Knife produced
from the Husbands Apartmt.hath had it ever since in his Custody
but cannot Say it was the Knife with wch. the Wound was
given.

in the other Garret at Mr. KenediesThat her Husbd. & she
Lodged at Mr. Kenedys abt. 7. years in the same Garrett
& that Willm. Bassett< no role > & Mary< no role > his Wife Lodged in the other
Garrett abt. 8 or 9 Months That he was a sober man &
minded his BusinessThat she would Brick to excess hath
often heard Quarrels between the Deced & her Husband upon
the account of JealousyThat the Quarrels wd. be sometimes
with Blows. That last Sunday was fortnight the Husband
called the Witness into the Room & she saw the Deced
bleeding abt. the Ann & that the Deced said she should
Die but the Deced did not Say who Gave the Wound or
with what. That the Husband sent for a Surgeon &
Mr. Allens Man came to her & recommended the Deced to Go
to the Hospital directly & she accordingly went in a
