Middlesex to wit


The Information of Joshua Brogden< no role > taken
before me this 5th. day of Septr. 1758

Who being upon Oath says that sometime agoe one
Paul Planche came to the House of John Fielding< no role > Esqr .
saying he had been Informed against for keeping a Billiard
Table and that he had been sent for by Mr. Fielding that upon
his Speaking with the said Justice he requested leave to Play
but the Justice Absolutely told him, he can'd not give him any
such leave and if he suffered any more Play in his House,
he must be Prosecuted; says than seen afterwards one Thomas
Coffee
< no role > (a Friend of Plomake's) came to this Informant and said
that he wou'd get a Petition drawn and Signed by several of [..]
his Neighbours, which this Informant Told him he might, and he
wou'd give it to the Justice, which was accordingly done, says
that he shewed the Petition to the said Justice but he refused
to hear it, and upon this Informants returning out of the
Room from the Justice told the said Coffer what the Justice
had said therefore desired that Planche wou'd not suffer
any more Complaints to be made for the future, says that
Coffee upon his going out offered this Informanta Guinea
[..] but upon what account this Informant did not know which
he Absolutely refused to accept and this Informant says
that he did not give Planche or any other Person on his
Behalf, any Promise, either from the Justice, or himself that
he might Play, but to the Contrary;
