taken upon their Several Oaths
this 6th. Day of May 1748.
And first the said Eleanor Pegus< no role >
for herself saith That yesterday the
5th. instant her Mistress told her this Deponent She missed Several
Womens quilted Caps out of her Shop, and She this Deponent Mistress as
well as this Deponent having a Suspicion the same were taken away by one
Mary Porter< no role >
(who work'd for this Deponent's Mistress) this Deponent
desired her said Mistress to enquire of the other Deponent Samuel Mettayer< no role >
whether such Caps So lost as abovemd. were offered to him to Sale, and that
thereupon the said Samuel Mettayer< no role >
told this Deponent's Mistress & herself
that he had on the 5th. instant bought Sixteen such quilted Caps of the
said Mary Porter< no role >
for Sixteen Shillings And the other Deponent the
said Samuel Mettayer< no role >
for himself saith That last Night being
the [..] fifth instant he did buy of the said Mary Porter< no role >
Sixteen quilted Caps
for Sixteen Shillings as mentioned by the other Deponent, Eleven of which Caps
this Deponent hath now produced which appears to be the property of the
said [..] Beitrand Quinsac and which things the said Mary Porter< no role >
acknowledge
to be part of the Things She Stole out of her said Master's House
