At the General Quarter Session of the peace of our Sovereign Lord the
King holden for the County of Middx
at Hicks Hall
in St. John Street
in
the County aforesaid by adjornment on Thursday the fifteenth day
of January in the ninth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George
the Second King of Great Britain France & Ireland Defender of
the Faith.
Upon the humble Petition of Robert Chester< no role >
Constable
in the parish
of Kensington
in this County exhibited unto this unto this Court setting forth
That he hath expended about the Sum of four pounds & five
Shillings in passing Vagrants from the Officers of the City
and Liberty of Westminster
through the said County, as may
appeare by Certificates of allowance Signed by two of his
Maties Justices of the peace
for the said County, which
expences still remain unpaid to the petitioner, and the
petitioner praying that this Courtthis Courtwill be
pleased to order that the Treasurer of the said County may
pay to the petitioner his said expences, It is Ordered by this
Court that it be and It is hereby recommended and referred
unto his Maties Justices of the peace
for this County appointed
to take the accounts of the Treasurers of the said County or
any three or more of them to peruse and inspect the said
Certificates, and to inquire if the Vagrants therein mentioned
were duely passed, and to examin if the sums allowed to the
petitioner by the said Certificates for such Service are just
and reasonable and such as ought to be allowed, or if
over charged and how much, And to certify what in
their opinion is justly one to the petitioner for the said
Service unto the Court of General Quarter or General
Sessions of the peace for this County to the End such further
Order may be made as the Court shall in that behalf
think proper.
