Gentleman


I this Day recieved a
Request from one William Smith< no role > (who
was sometime in February last committed
by Mr Tarver of Brentford to Clarkenwell
Bridewell ) to get him a Discharge from
that Confinement, which he says he cannot
obtain without a Line sent to You from me.

The Subject of my Allegation against him
was his secreting himself in my Coach house,
with an undoubted Intent to Steal, as
appear'd by his Conduct in that Affair,
having just seen my Servant & declar'd
his Purpose to go to another Place, before
he was found in the above mention'd one,
& endeavouring to conceal himself, when
upon a Dog's Backing he was search'd after
On inquiring into his Character, I found it
very bad, he having been strongly inspected
of breaking open & robbing his Fellow-Servant
