Upon Informacon given to this Court by Robert Thornhill< no role > and John
Milner
< no role > Esqrs two of his Maties Justices of the peace for this County
That at the General Renewing of Licenses for Holborne Division
at the Court house in Bloomsbury several Inhitants who sold Beer
& Ale by Retail and prayed to have Licenses granted them for
that purpose were refused to have such Licenses granted. For
that some of them kept disorderly houses and other of them were
papists or reputed papist and refused to take the Oaths of Allegiance
Suprematy and Abptracon And that several Victualers who had
Licenses then granted to Sell Beer & Ale by Retail complained That
they could not have their Licenses from the Office of the Clerk of
the peace for this County for a long time after the granting
thereof and that Some of them have not yet reced them And that
several persons who sold Beer & Ale by Rotait after the time of the
said General Renewing applyed to several Justices of the peace
to obtain Licenses for so doing, had great Sumes of moneyof
[..] demanded of them by their Clerks and alsoe by the Beadles
of the several parishes where they Inhite, which they were forced
to pay before the obtaining thereof to the great Abuse of Justice
and Oppression of divers of his Maties good Subjects. For enquiring
into the truth of the said Complt and redress of the said Abuses
It is thought fit and ordered by this Court That it be and it is
hereby recomended & referred Unto Sr Henry Fetherston< no role > Bart Martin
