Wee whose Stands & Seals are hereunto set two of His Maties Justices of
ye peace for ye County of Midd (one where of being of the Quor) &
inhiting next ye. Limits of ye: parish Church of ye parish of
St: Dunstan in the West in ye: said County having met
together & heard ye Complaint of ye: Overseers of the poor
of the Libty of ye Rolls in ye said parish concerning a
female Bastard Child born in ye: said Libty on ye body
of Prudence Knap< no role > Singlewoman on the Second
day of November Instant wch. is baptized Elizabeth < no role > &
hath ever since ye: birth thereof been chargeable to ye: said
Libty & so likely to continue Do find upon Exaiacon
of ye: said Prudence Knap taken upon Oath as above
upon ye: Oath of Mary Bond< no role > Midwife to her the said
Prudence Knap in her Travail & delivery of ye said
female Bastard Child That one Thomas Webster< no role > Gen
lately lodging at ye Sign of ye: Haunch of Venison
at the back Side of St. Elements Church in ye sd: County
did beget on ye: body of her ye: sd: Prudence Knap ye: said
female Bastard Child Wee ye said Justices do adjudge
him ye: said Thomas Webster ye: putative Father of
ye sd. female Bastard Child And do order & appoint him
ye: said Thomas Webster forthwth: upon notice of this our
Order to pay to ye: said Overseers of ye: poor of ye said
Libty of ye Rolls or to some or one of them ye sume of
forty shillings of lawfull money of Great Britain
for Releif of the said female Bastard Child for the
first four weeks after the Birth thereof & for ye Charge
of her lying in besides five shillings to ye: Midwife
As also that he the said Thomas Webster shall weekly &
every week afterwards pay to ye: sd: Overseers of ye poor or
to some or one of them ye Sume of two shillings & six
pence of like lawfull money for & towards ye: Releif
& maintainance of ye sd: female Bastard Child for so
long time as ye sd female Bastard Child shall remain
chargeable to ye. said Libty And that he shall of from
ye: Charge of ye: said Bastard Child at all times here
after save harmless & indemnifie ye said Libty of
the Rolls. Given under our hands & Seals ye: 29th
Day of November Anno Dorn 1716
