The Examination of Barnaby Hand< no role > a Soldier taken
before me Ralph marshall< no role > Esqr . One of his
Majties. Justices of the peace for the said County this
19th. day of January Anno Diu 1698.

This Examinant Saith That about three Monthes Since in
the Evening about Twy light he mett John Williams< no role > in
Holborne with a Trunke upon his back and this Examinant
ask't him what he had gott there, and the said Williams
replyed Some Clothes that he was goeing to pawne or Sell, and
alsoe desired this Examinant to goe alongwith him, & according by
they went into dirty Lane neare long Are, to the house of James
Constable
< no role > and there the said Williams sett downe the said Trunke
on the Floore and opened it, but whither it was Corded & cock's
this Examinant cannot tell, and [..] the said Williams
then & there tooke out of the said Trunke Severall wearing
Clothes, & Sold the same to the said Constable for Six & Thirty
Shillings, tenn where of he gave to this Examinant, but
demanded and had five of them againe the next day, And
being ask't for what reason the said Williams gave him the said
tenn Shillings, he sayes becuse hee wanted Shooes & Stockings
and further saith that Williams carryed away the said
Trunke With him, leaveingthe said Barnaby Hand< no role > this
Examinant behinde him at the said constables house.
