To the Right Worsps. his Maties Justices of the Peace for the County of Midds.

The humble Peticon of the Inhabitants of that part of
the parish of St. James Clerkenwell which is within
the Liberty of Ishington in the said County.

Sheweth

That yor. Peticoners doe Severally Contribute and pay to the Watch within the said
parish Which Watch is Constanly kept at or neare the upperend of St John Street
within the Said parish Which place is remote from your Petrs. habitacons Soe
that yor. Petr. have noe benefit by the said Watch.

That Severall Burnlaries & Robberies have been attempted in and neare your
Petrs. Neighbourhood & they being Still in danger there of for want of a
Sufficient Watch.

Yor. Petrs therefore humbly pray yor. Worspps to be pleased
to order that they may be discharged from contributing and
paying to the Said Watch within the said parish and that they
may have liberty and power to imploy and pay one or more
Watchmen in the Said Liberty of Islington for the better
Safeguard & Security of yor. Peticoners.
