Whereas the generall Quarter Sessions of [..] eild at Aylsbury in and for the Countio aforesaid, upon
Thursday in the Weeke next after the Feast of [..] (Vizt) the First day of May in the Second yeare of the
reigne of our Soveraigne Lord and Lady William and Mary of England 85 King and Queene, The said
Court upon Complaynt made, that certayne Birdges over the vibor Colne in or neere the towne of
Colebrooke or ells where in the Sevearall parishes of Langley and Horton in this Countie, and a causey neere
thereunto word in great decay and very various for want of repay records did order that the repayres of the Said
Bridges and Causey Should be refferred to Sr Dennis Hampton< no role > Bart Sr Roger Hill< no role > Knt Nicolas Salter< no role > and
Edward Scawen< no role > Esqrs Four of their Maties Justices of the Peace for the said Countie or any two of them to Consider
and examine how and in what manner and what Pishes or Psons ought to Bear and defray the Charge in and
about the repayres and amendments of the said Bridges and Causey And what proportion the Inhabitants of
Stanwell in the Countie of middx ought to pay towards the repayrting of the said Bridges and to report the same
to the said Court wee whose named are hereunto Subscribed doe certifie to this Court, that in pursuance
of the directions in the said order, wee after publique notis given to the Inhabitants of Colebrooks did upon
the twenteith day of May Instant meet at the said to towne, and to go at & with Severall of the Inhabitants of the Said
Towne did publiquely vein the said Bridges and Causey and did finde them to Bor much out of repayed and
upon the best examinacon and enquiry that was could make did finde that till the reigne of King Henry the
eight the Said Bridges and causey were repayed by the King and that upon Frequent Compay made to the
Said King of the Said Bridges and Causey being out of repayes King Henry the eight by his Letters Kattents
boreing date the nine and twenteeth of August in the thirtie Fifth yeare of his Reigne did grant to the Said Towne
of Colebrooke a weekelie Markett and two fayres in each yeare (vizt) at the Feasts of St Marke and of St
Symon and Jude And did thereby give to the said towne the toll of the Said Markett and Fayres the Proffitts of
White amongst other things were to being [..] in the repayres of the Said Bridges and Causer And wee did
alsoe finde that afterwards King [..] by his Letters Flatents careing date the eighth of or [..]
in the elevanents yeare of his [..] said to [..] of colebrooke and did grant to the said [..]
