"Articles provided for the Prisoners in the House
"of Correction and Also to Inspect the
"General concerns of the Prisons belonging
"to this County."

"The Said Committee Report.

"That in pursuance of the Order made in
"September Session last directing that the Pot Liquor
"in which the Meat is boiled for the Prisoners should
"be put by in Earthen Pans for the purpose of making
"Soup in which Two Ounces of Rice for each Prisoner
"together with Leeks Onions and Carriots the produce
"of the Garden at the House of Correction should be
"put, Your Committee directed Mr.. Aris to purchase
"a Sufficient Quantity of Rice for supplying the
"Prisoners till December Session and that a State-
"-ment of the Expence attending the Alteration
"of the Diet should be produced at their next Meeting
"in Consequence thereof Mr.. Aris laid the following
"Account before Your Committee namely.

"For the Maintenance of 228. Convicts 14 Days
Meat one Day and broth the other, the saving of
Butchers Meat< no role > is 114. Pounds Weight. at 3½d. P.. lb.
amounts to£1..13..3

The Quantity of Rice used in the
same time is 1cwt..3qrs..9lbs..23. weight at 36sh..
Per Cwt.. amounts to} £3..5..7½.

The increase of Expence to the County by the
New mode for the above number of Prisoners
in fourteen Days is £1..12s..4½d or £40. Pr.. Annum.
