whole, there is no Dark Cell on the Ground floor there are
eight Dark Cells for refractory Prisoners and they are up
Stairs, nor is there any Cell under Ground or any Dungeon
in the Prison, the Ground floor Cells are three steps (7
Inch steps.) above the pavement which is of flatt Yorkshire
Stone and lays in a Declivity from the Cells. - I took
the Paper market (T. N. T. R) from John Roberts< no role > it was
in his Pocket, in Consequence of an apprehension in the
Governor from the behavior of the Sedition People that they
were meditating some Mischief on the 1st.. January they
were sent for down into the Office and searched separately
and I took the Paper from Roberts I told him We had
reason to believe he had improper Papers about him he
said if I took any thing from him he would swear a
Roberry against me - the Paper is in Roberts own
hand Writing and I believe a Copy of it has been sent
out of the Prison, Sir Francis Burdett< no role > had been at the
Prison three times before this, the General behavior of the
Sedition People has been very improper at times, and
since they came in the Mutineers have been much
more riotous and unruly than before, Eleseworth, a
Person bailed out was the Chairman of the Sedition
People and since he resigned Kier has been appointed
the Chairman and has made speeches from his
own Cell to the Mutineers who were Confined in Cells
cross the Passage , since Sir Francis Burdett< no role > 's visits
Joel Raince< no role > a Turnkey and Servant became very
sullen and found great fault with the Prisoners
being searched in searching one of the Mutineers
Cells Davis< no role > 's I found about 2lbs.. of Butter and 3lbs.. of
Sausages and some Tea and Sugar and 5 One
pound Loaves and half a Loaf I think they must
have been Conveyed to them by Raince as he had
