June 1796.

Gentlemen

I propose to perform the several Works requisite to
be done in Erecting an Intended new Bridge at Forty Hill
agreeable to the designs and particulars made for that
purpose for the sum of Five hundred and thirty pounds
and remain Gentlemen

Your most Obedient Servant,

Mr.. Wood not having fixed any price for that
Timber was asked what be Estimated the same at but
not having made any Calculation thereof agreed to accept
such price as should be thought reasonable by Mr..
Rogers the County Surveyor

And the several parties being called in and asked
if they could make any abatement from the Sums
mentioned in their several Proposals they declared they
could not to make the Work good and substantial.

Resolved That Mr.. Wood (having delivered in
the lowest Proposal) be Contracted with for the Building
the said Bridge for the Sum therein mentioned he
agreeing to finish the Work on or before the 5th. day of
October next the Contract to be prepared forthwith.

By adjournment same Day.

Resolved That William Cobbett< no role > be excused
serving the Office of High Constable of Staines Division
and that William Holgate who was recommended to
the Court as a proper person be Ordered to attend the
Court on Saturday next to take upon him that
Office.

By adjournment same day.
