"And it appearing that great benefit has accrued to the
"Counties of Oxford and Norfolk by the Plan adopted in those
"Counties of employment by Prisoners by hard labour, and which
"Plan might become of great public utility in case it was generally
"adopted throughout this Kingdom: This Society beg leave to
"recommend to the Magistrates to take the same into their Serious
"consideration at such Meeting: and likewise to bung forward such
"Plans for the general reform of the Police as they shall think most
"adviseable and to be assured that every assistance will be given by
"this society to carry the Resolutions of the Magistrates at such
"Meeting into effect.

"President of the Society for giving effect to His
"Majestys Proclamation against Vice and Immorality

" P.P. It will be esteemed a particular favour, if you will send
"the Names and Place of Abode of the two Magistrates, when
"appointed by the Quarter Session to the Secretary Mr Bennett
"under Cover directed as follows - To His Grace the Duke of
"Montagu President of the Society for giving effect to His Majestys
"Proclamation, Privy Garden , London."

Resolved that the Clerk of the Peace be directed to
write to His Grace the Duke of Montagu to acknowledge the Receipts
of the Letter and to assure his Grace that every attention shall be
paid to the recommendations therein contained
