The Report of the Committee appointed to carry into Execution
the approved Plan of the new intended House of Correction for the County of
Middlesex
being laid before the Court and read in the following Words Vizt.
"To His Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex
in their
"General Quarter Session of the Peace holden in and for the said County (by
"adjournment) on Saturday the twenty fifth day of April 1789 Assembled.
"The Report of the Committee appointed to carry
"into Execution the approved Plan of the new intended
"House of Correction for the said County.
"The said Committee Report
"That in pursuance of the Powers to them given and the
"Referrences to them made they have proceeded to examine the Proposals
"delivered in for executing the Smiths Work and the Masons Work to the
"new intended House of Correction for the said County and that upon strictly
"examining the said Proposals and investigating the several Persons who
"had delivered the same it appeared to Your Committee that the Proposal of
"Walter Hattam< no role >
and William and Francis Kinman< no role >
for executing the Smiths
"Work; and the Proposal of William Hopcraft< no role >
for executing the Mason
s work
"were the lowest and most reasonable.
"That the Committee are of Opinion that the Proposals of the
"said Walter Hattam< no role >
& Co and of the said William Hopcraft< no role >
are fair and
"reasonable they have therefore subjoined them to this Report and recommend
"it to the Court to Contract with the said Walter Hattam< no role >
and William and
"Francis Kinman< no role >
for executing the Smiths Work and with the said William
"Hopcraft for executing the Masons Work.
"And the said Committee further Report.
That having taken into consideration the following Order of
"Referrence made at the last General Session of the Peace held for this County Vizt.
"It being stated to the Court by the Committee appointed for building the New House
"of Correction for this County in Cold Bath fields
that it would soon be necessary to
"raise a farther Sum of Money for the purpose of carrying on the said Building
