the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury by the Officers of the Exchequer
with whom he passes his Accounts

That in the Year 1691 a Representation was made by his
Majestys Justices of the peace for this County to the Lord Commissioners of
their Majestys Treasury stating that the usual allowance was then to
Eighteen Justices praying (in Consequence of the Increase of Justices and
more numerous attend thereof at Session) a further allowance of
Four shillings to Six more Justices and that in Conformity then to the Lords
Commissioners of the Treasury had issued an Order or Warrant to the then
Sheriff of this County to make such additional Allowance and also to the
Officers of the Exchequer to make allowance thereof again to the Sheriff since
which time the said allowance has been continued to Twenty four

And it further appearing to your Committee that more
Justices of the Peace for this County do usually attend the Sessions since
the date of the last Commission of the peace for this County than did before
that upon an Average Forty six different Justices are present at each
Session of which number more than Twenty three daily attend that since
the allowance heretofore made to Twenty four Justices the price of all
sorts of Viands have greatly increassed and it also appearing by the
Examination of Mr. Hall the House Keeper at Hicks Hall that since he
has been in Office through he cannot take upon himself to every he has
been out of Pocket by providing the Dinners for his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace each day of the Session for the allowance made to Twenty
four Justices and the Clerk of the Peace yet he has not Reaped any
Emolument thereby and has great reason to apprehend from the Daily
increase of Magistrates that he shall soon be a looser It is the
Opinion of the Committee that an Additional allowance ought to be
demanded for Twelve more Justices and that application to that end
should be forthwith made to the Lords Commissioners of his Majestys
Treasury

All which the Committee Submit Etc
