Sessions to summon the Grand Jury and they being left at large to summon what
Number they please is the Cause of the Imposition complained of as by this
means greater Numbers are summoned then are necessary, many are liable to
Imposition and are excused for corrupt Considerations And that the Committee
humbly conceive that the following Regulations is respect to the summoning
Grand Jurys may prevent such partial and corrupt Practices for the future

1st.

That it be requested of the Sheriff that the Precept for summoning the Grand
Jury be for the future confined to the Bailiff of one Division only and that the
Number to be summoned be confimed to forty eight

2d.

That the several Bailiffs have Notice that a List of the Names of the forty
eight Persons so summoned be returned upon Oath to Sessions before the
Jury be called and also that to the best of such Bailiffs knowledge that they
are fit and able Persons to serve and indifferently summoned without favour
ill will or reward, and that the forty eight Persons so returned are the
whole Number summoned by him or any other Person is his behalf.
This Court doth agree to the said Report and doth ratify and confirm the
same and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed accordingly. And this
Court doth Order that a Copy of the said Report be made out and delivered to
Mr. Samuel Benson< no role > [..] to the intent that he may
give proper notice to the summoning Bailiffs to observe the above Regulations.

By adjournment on Thursday the twenty first day of April 1757.

Order for Mr. James Sturgis< no role >
Adams to attend a Committee
concerning his Proposal for
passing Rogers Vagabonds

It is Ordered by this Court that Mr. James Sturgis Adams be and he is
hereby desired to attend a Committee of his Majestys Justices of the Peace
for this County at Hicks Hall in St. John Street on Tuesday on the twenty fourth day of May next at ten of the Clock in the Forenoon concerning a Proposal
by him made for the passing and conveying of Rogues and Vagabonds and
the said Committee are desired to make their Report touching the premisses
to the Court of the next General Session of the Peace to be holden for this
County on the County Day of the same Session

By adjournment on Thursday the twenty first day of April 1757

Order for Mr. Richd. Williams< no role >
to perform the Glaziers Work
contained in his Estimate at
New Prison and for the
Keepers of New Prison and
Bridewell to attend the Court.

Upon reading the Estimate of Richard Williams< no role > Glazier of Glaziers Work wanted
to be done at New Prison at Clerkenwell in this Courty It is Ordered by this Court
that the said Richard Williams< no role > do perform the Glaziers Work contained in the said
Estimate at New Prison aforesaid And that Mr. William Pentlow< no role > Keeper of the
said Prison and Mr. Henry Wallbanck< no role > keeper of the House of Correction at
Clerkenwell in this County do attend the Court on the County day of the next General
Session of the Peace to be holden for the said County to the intent that it may be
then recommended to them that they do keep the Windows of their respective Prisons
in repair at their own Expence for the future
