By Adjornmt. on Thursday 13th. day of Sept 1739

Order concerning the
rebuilding Brentford
Bridge & receiving proposals for ye. Lane and appointing
a Committee for the
Bridges}

This Court having taken into Consideration the State & condition
of a Publick Bridge called Brentford Bridge in this County
(which is very ruinous & out of repair) Doth resolve that the said
Bridge be rebuilt with the hardest & best bricks with one or
more Arches laid in Tarris two foot higher than the Water rises
at a Spring Tide, and also with Stone Fenders to guard the foot
Passengers and a Stone Portland Coring on the two Parapet
Walls, And that such Artificers as are willing to Contract for
building the same may deliver their plans and proposalls
Sealed up to the Clerk of the peace of the said County at Hickshall
in St. John Street on or before the fourth day of October 1739 And
that notice of the above Resolution be printed in some of the
publick News papers , And the Clerk of the peace is to lay such
plans & proposalls as he shall receive before Sr. Joseph Aylott

or any three of them whom this Court doth appoint to be a
Committee to Manage such matters as may be proper to be done
under the direction of this Court concerning the rebuilding of
Brentford Bridge or repairing of such part of Chertsea Bridge
as is in this County, And the said Committee are desired to
Examine into the said Proposalls directed to be laid before them
as aforesaid and to report the same to the Court of the next
General Quarter Sessions of the Peace for the said County.

peruse & settle the Order
& Rate for raising £800
for the purposes menton'd
in the late Act of Parliamt
for the more easy assessing
collecting & levying of
County Rates}

It is Ordered by this Court that Mr. John Higgs< no role > Treasurer of the
moneys Ordered to be raised by vertue of an Order and a Rate
made at this present Sessions for raising the Sum of Eight
Hundred pounds for the purposes mentioned in a late Act of
Parliament for the more easy Assessing Collecting and levying
of County Rates, Do attend his Majestys Solicitor General
with the aforesaid Order & Rate and desire that he will please
to peruse & settle the said Order & Rate in such Manner as he
