Barwell Smith< no role > Esqrs . Whereas the Cryer of the Court of Generall Quarter and Generall
Sessions of the peace for this County hath usually had and
received for many Years last past for his Trouble and paines
in delivering to each Alehouse Keeper and Victualler in this
County the Licence to him or her granted (at the generall
renewing of Licences )for Selling of Beer and Ale the Sume
of One Shilling Now upon Complaint made unto this Court by
Mrs. Francis Seymour< no role > Wife of Christopher Seymour< no role > Gent
Housekeeper of Hicks hall and Cryer of the generall Quarter
and Generall Sessions of the Peace for this County, that a
great many Victuallers refuse to pay the Said one Shilling
for delivering their respective Licences when brought to their
houses and, that other Victuallers being from Home when
their Licences are brought to their Houses the Cryer cannot
get the Money for delivering the Same and is put to great
Trouble in gaining thither again at other Times in order
to receive the Same especially in Such Places as are remote
and at a distance, And It was therefore prayed that this
Court would please to give direction for remedy of the Said
Inconvenience, Whereupon It is declared by this Court and
the Justices of the Peace that they doe as farr as in them
lies give Leave and Licence to the Cryer of this Court for
the time being to demand and receive of every Alehouse
Keeper and Victualler in this County who shall apply for a
Licence to be granted or renewed to him or her upon and
before his or her entering into Beceguizance in order to
have a Licence for Selling of Beer and Ale one Shilling
for his Trouble in Carrying and delivering Such Licence
at the dwelling house of Such Victualler But that this
Order shall continue in Force for one Year only from the
first Day of next Easter Sessions (Vizt.) the twenty ninth day
of April One thousand Seven hundred & twenty eight and
no longer And this Court doth further declare and
accordingly order that the Cryer of this Court Shall outer
into a Bond in the penall Sume of fifty pounds unto
