Order for prventing
the acting of drolls
& exerciseing unlawfull
games & plays at
Tottenham Court
in the parish of St.
Pancras & elsewhere
in Middx.

This Court being informed that severall Comon players of
Interludes did in the month of Augt. last assemble & meet
together att or near a certain Place called Tattenhoe als.
Tattenhall als Tottenham Court in the Parish of St. Pancras
in this County and did ten & there erect severall
Booths & exhibits & act severall Drolls & use & exercise
severall unlawfull Games & Plays whereby gre [..] mbers
of his Maties. Subjects were incouraged to assem [..] & meet
together and to comitt riots & other Misdemeanrs. in breach
of his Maties. Peace & to the disturbance of the neibourhood
of that Place and that some of the same Players of
Interludes & other evill disposed Psons are now seeking out
& contracting for ground in or near Tattenhoe als
Tattenhall als Tottenham Court aforesaid as well as
in divers other Parts of this County to build Booths for
shewing & acting such Plays & drolls & for carrying
on & encourageing of divers kinds of unlawfull Play &
Gameing And Whereas all such Players of Interludes are
deemed & declared Rogues & Vagabonds and the acting of
such Players & Drolls & the keeping of Publick Gameing
Tables or gameing houses are contrary to the Laws and
Statutes of this Realm & doe manifestly & directly tend
to the incouragemt. of Vice & imorality and to the
debourching & rinneing of Servants Apprentices & others
as well as to the disturbance of the Publick Peace by
occasioning quarrells Riotts & tumults & other
disorders whereby itt will be very difficult for the
Justices & other civil Magistrates & officers of this
County (if such Practices are Permitted) to by P [..]
the Publick Peace or to Prevent or Punish such
Misdemeanours as may be comitted by such number
