maketh oath that last Tuesday evening
Dept being in Red Cross Street
he saw the deced
an Infant
running
across the Street
& his right foot slippirs he fell down near about
the middle of the StreetThat the Birmingham & Coventry post Coach drawn by four
Horses was then driving along the Street a full trot & was about four
or five yards off the deced. That Dept on seeing the deced full immeds.
called, as loud as he could, Stop Stop: another boy did the same on the
opposite side of the way from Dept. and the deced himself also cried out,
but the Horses went on, & both the near Horses as they passed on struck
the deced, and the fore near wheel passed over the body of the deced and
the hinder near Wheel over his face. That Dept caught the Child up in
his Arms & in about half a minute the Coach stopped & the Coachman
looked round [..] for half a minute or thereabouts & then drove [..] away. That Dept took
the deced to Mr Slaters & Surgeon where he died a few minutes afterwards
says the Coach was going [..] at the rate of a full trot, as fast as
they could trot. Says Dept was behind the Coach [..] on the foot pavemt.
when he called to the Coachman. That the Coachman did not turn round
on Depts calling or did he slacken his pace until the Coach had passed
the deced.
