Permit writer to the Commissioners of Excise
Maketh Oath that having entered into a
Recognizance to prosecute William
Thompson for felony he this deponent did
on Saturday last attend the Grand Jury
at the Sessions house Clark made to give
evidence against the Prisoner but was not
able to swear to his person and this
deponent also attended this Honourable
Court from One oClock on Monday last
till Ten oClock the same Night and
this Deponent further saith that being
buy the Rules of his Office as a Permit
Writer obliged to attend his said Office
untill near one oClock on Tuesday
last he was not able to attend this
Honourable Court untill after one oClock
and that he this deponent did immediately
after he quitted his office attend this
Court to give his evidence when he
was informed the Prisoner had
been acquitted between Eleven and
