Barnet Connery and the Articulant exhibited aproves of [..]
Boots and Shoes in order that the said Barnet Connery might sell the same in such Shop and Might
thereby be enabled to Carry on some Business towards his own support And this Articulant still continued
to maintain the said Barnet Connery and to pay the Rent for the said Shop But this Articulant saith
that immediately after the said Barnet Connery was in possession of the said Shop he began to renew his
ill treatment of this Articulant and frequently threatened her life.

Fourthly

This Articulant upon her Oath saith that on or about the sixthday of September last the said
Barnet Connery came into this Articulants Shop and demanded to have this Articulants Furniture
and this Articulant through fear not giving him any Answer the said Barnet Connery with a Knife
Cut the seat of one of this Articulants Chairs in places and was proceeding to do more Mischief to this
Articulants Furniture when some of this Articulants Neighbours came into her Ship and the said Barnet
Connery thereupon went away.

Fifthly

This Articulant upon her Oath further with that on or about the thirteenth day of August last
the said Barnet Connery came again to this Articulants Shop and insisted upon living with this Articulant
and on this Articulant's telling the said Barnet Connery she could not venture to live with him, the said Barnet
Connery threatened to stab this Articulant and went to a Drawer belonging to this Articulant in order as
this Articulant verily beleives to find a Knife but some persons coming into this Articulants Shop at that
instant the said Barnet Connery was prevented from further ill treating this Articulant And this Articulant
further saith that a few Evenings after the said Barnet Connery came again to this Articulants Shop and threatened
to blow up this Articulants house and to make an End of this Articulant and the said Barnet Connery then
made use of very herrid Imprecations against this Articulant in so much that this Articulant for the preservation
of her life was obliged to send for a Constable upon which the said Barnet Connery went away.

Sixthly

This Articulant upon her Oath saith that on the Thirteenth day of September lastthe said
Barnet Connery came again to this Articulants Shop and without any provocation on the part of this Articulant
the said Barnet Connery took up a Knife and with horrid Imprecations threatened to do for this Articulant
And this Articulant immediately ran from the said Barnet Connery into this Articulants Shop And the said
Barnet Connery followed this Articulant with the Knife in his hand and again threatened to put an End
to this Articulants life upon which this Articulant being closely pursued by the said Barnet Connery cried out
Murder and thereupon this Articulants Neighbour Mr Winter came into this Articulants Shop and saw the
said Barnet Connery with the Knife in his hand whereupon the Constable was sent for and the said Barnet
Connery was taken into Custody and committed Prison for want of Bail And this Articulant hath ever since
maintained the said [..] Barnet Connery in Prison.

Seventhly

This Articulant upon her Oath further saith that diveing the time the said Barnet Connery was in
possession of the said Shop the said Barnet Connery frequently threatened to do for this Articulant and often
threw Plates and other things at her and struck this Deponent twice in a very violent manner And this Articulant
upon her Oath saith that from the bad Behaviour of the said Barnet Connery towards the Articulant she this
Articulant apprehends and verily beleives that the said Barnet Connery will do or came to be done some
great bodily harm to this Articulant and she will be in danger of losing her Life by his use and unless he
should be reframed therefrom by this Honourable Court.

Lastly

This Articulant upon her Oath saith that she doth not exhibit these Articulant from any Malice
Statred or Ill will towards the said Barnet Connery but merely for the preservation of this Articulants
life and person from Danger And therefore humbly craves Sureties of the Peace from the said Barnet
Connery.
