me one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
for
the County of Middlesex
Who on his Oath Saith That he is a Servant
to Thomas
Green< no role >
of Bricklane
in the Parish of Saint Matthew
Bethnal Green
who keeps on Iron shop, And That on
Friday the Ninth day of December Instant about
Eight or Nine O Clock Two Lads came to said Greens
house to sell some Lead each of them having some
in his Custody, that Deponent weighed the same and
[..] Greens wife paid the two Lads One penny per
Pound which they agreed for and Green his Master was then sitting in
the said Shop at Supper close by them Presently Afterwards three
more came in and brought with them a great Quantity
of gutter lead and received of Greens wife two shillings
in part and they was to call the next morning for
the remainder, Green then being out and on his
coming home some person in the Street called out
stop thief this Examination then went out of the house
into the street and there sawsawsome pole people
having in their Custody one of the Lads named James

that brought the Lead into Greens house and
this Examinant then told Green it was one of the
Lads who brought the Lead into Greens house Green
then said What shall we do with the Lead and
sayd to this Examinant take it and carry it away
Examinant sayd he would not touch a bit of itof he
for they might lay hold of him, Green then said
Suppose we sit up and melt it,Greenand let us
have a pot of Beer and Examinant went and fetched it
and on his return, Green said I have got a place where
they wont find it Examinant asked him where it was
to which Green replied throw it down this hole into the
Cellar, Green then called this Examinant down in the
Cellar to him where the same was Concealed, and that
