The Information of Jane Woodward< no role > wife of
Charles Woodward< no role > of New Gravel Lane Shadwell
Taken upon Oath before me William Blackborow< no role >
Esqr . One of His Majestys Justices of the Peace
in and for the said County this 14th. day of
October One thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty Three

This Informant upon her Oath saith that on Saturday
the Eleventh day of October instant she this Informant was
Committed to New Prison at Clerkenwell by Justice Green from
his Office at East Smithfield for an Assault that this Informant
was taken In a Coach to New Prison by Samuel Gascoyne< no role > but
first that this Informant was taken from the Justices to a Public
House in East Smithfield and was there Hand Cuffed by the
said Samuel Gascoyne< no role > to a Man who was drunk that
this Informant Offere'd the said Samuel Gascoyne< no role > a Shilling
to wait till her Husband could get bail for her but he
would not but forced her into a Hackney Coach with the other
Man that some time after she had been in the said Coach
he took the Shilling from her and said We'll have glasses
a piece for this that the Coach Stopped at a public House but
in what Street she doth not know that they drank a
Glass of Liquor each of them That the Coach then went on
again and the said Samuel Gascoyne< no role > asked this Informant
if she had any more Money and she told him she had not
but the said Samuel Gascoyne< no role > put a handkerchief to
her Mouth with one hand and with the other took Three
Shillings in Silver out of her pocket and [..] said she
should not go to Prison and that the Money would pay
the Coach back again That this Informant told him
