The Information of Charles Mallard taken
upon Oath before one William Blackborow< no role > Esqr.
One of His Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the Peace in and
for the said County this 9th day of January, 1793

This Informant upon his Oath saith that on
Monday Morning the 16th. day of December last past between
of hours of Five and Six of the Clock he this Informant
was going thos Third field Lane he saw two men come from
a Window of a shop with the Window Shutter taken door
that this Informant having Candles and Lanthorn went
and Leshied in teh said Shop Window and saw a Man
who calls himself by the Name of George Godby Saying
over the Compter of the said shop pretending to be a
sleep that this Informant called to him and asked what
he did there and he told this Informant that the Shop
had been broke open by thieves and he was laying
there in order to take them supposing they would
come back again that this Informant thinking what
the said George Godby said was not true immediately
went to the watch house near Sr. Andrews Church for
Assistance and when this Informant and two Watch Men
came to the said shop he saw the said George Godby< no role >
and the other two Parsons run away down filed Lane
And this Informant further saith that The Person
who calls himself by the Name of Ambrose Ward< no role >
