Samuel Brown< no role > of the Parish of Saint Mary Magdalen
Bermondsey in the County of Surrey Gentleman maketh Oath and saith
that in the Month of June last past he was bound by Recognizance
to prosecute one William Steward< no role > for Stealing a Handkerchief this
Deponents Property at the Session held for the City of London at
Justice hall in the Old Bailey on Wednesday the sixth Day of
July last past And this Deponent further saith that about a Week
before the [..] Sessions he was violently afflicted with the Gent
in his right Foot insomuch that he was rendered unable to go out
of his House for the space of five Weeks without the utmost danger
of loosing his Life by Means whereof this Deponent was prevented
from attending at the said Sessions to prefer a Bill of Indictment
against the said William Steward< no role > for such Felony and on that
Account this Deponent's said Recognizance became forfeited
And this Deponent saith that during the said Sessions he wrote
a Letter to the Honourable Court to acquaint them of this Deponent
situation and was in hopes that the said William Steward< no role >
would have been continued in Custody till the then next Session
And lastly this Deponent saith that such illness was the only
Reason that prevented this Deponent from appearing to prosecute
the said William Steward< no role > .
