Detained by Sir John Fielding< no role > , Knt . Standing indicted at the session of oyer
and terminer and gaol-delivery for the county of Surry, July 24, 1771,
for forging a certain stamp serving to denote the payment of several duties
upon linnens printed, stained, painted or dy'd in England, in order
to defraud his Majesty of such duties, and for deceitfully forging a cer-
tain stamp resembling a certain stamp serving to denote the charging the
said several duties; and for feloniously counterfeiting a certain seal re-
sembling a seal serving to denote the payment of the said duties; and
for counterfeiting a certain seal serving to denote the charging of the
for counterfeiting a certain seal serving to denote the charging of the
several duties, with intent to defraud his Majesty; and for deceitfully
and feloniously counterfeiting upon a certain piece of linnen, chargeable
with the duties aforesaid, the impression of certain stamps and seals as
aforesaid, with intent to defraud his said Majesty of the duties, Etc.
