At the General Quarter Session of the Peace of our Lord the King
holden for the City of London at the Guildhall within the said City
on Tuesday the Twelfth Day of January 1768
in the Eighth Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third King of Great
Britain Etc.
Whereas the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Saint Sepulchre
in the County of Middlesex
have exhibited their Petition
to this Court setting forth that Ann Hanson< no role >
is a poor old and impotent
person not able to work or get her Living whereby the is become
chargeable to the said Parish of Saint Sepulchre and was then in the
Workhouse
belonging to the said Parish And that the said Ann Hanson< no role >
hath a Son named James Hanson< no role >
a Carpenter
and Builder who keeps
a great House and Timber Yard on the West Side of the Fleet
Market
London and another Timber Yard in the said Parish of Saint Sepulchre
and carries on a very extensive Trade and who is of sufficient Ability
to maintain his said Mother and therefore prayed that this Court
would be pleased to make such Order in the Premisses for the Relief of
the Petitioners as the Court should seem meet Whereupon it is ordered
that the final Hearing and Determination of the Matters of the said
Appeal be and the same is hereby adjourned unto the next General
Quarter Session of the Peace to be holden for the said City at the Guildhall
aforesaid on Monday the Eleventh Day of April next at Eight of the Clock
in the Morning and that the said James Hanson< no role >
have Notice hereof in
the mean time that he may attend and shew Cause why he should not
be assessed and charged for the Relief of his said Mother according to the
Statute in that behalf.
