of Sturston
in
the County of Suffolk
Yeoman
taken on oath this twentieth day of
March 1767
at the Sessions of Oyer and Tennuer and Delivery holden at
Bury Saint Edmunds in and for the same County
This Informant saith that on or about the 28th of October last
He saw two Men in a Field belonging to this Informant at the
Parish of Sturston
aforesaid One on Horseback and the other on
foot where this Informants Horses were feeding and that the
man or Horseback had a Halter in his Hand and the other
a Bride and being amongst this Informants Horses He had reason
to suspect them of having an Intention to steal some of them,
and accordingly apprehended the said two men, and seized the
Horse on which One of the men was riding, and caused the Horse
to be advertized, upon which One Mr. Lacey came down
from London and claimed the said Horse and made Information
before the Rev Mr Gould a Justices of the Peace for this County that
the said Horse was his Property and that he was stolen from a
Publick House in Smithfield Market
London And this Informant
further saith that the said mens Names are Thomas Hale< no role >
and Thomas
Smith< no role >
and are the same Men that are now in the Custody of the
Sheriff of Suffolk
